The trick to quitting smoking, if you do not want to go into rehab is to keep your mind distracted from your craving for it. There are all kinds of problem solving games you can find on a computer; why not start up with one of those? Certainly by the time you have been at it for a few minutes, you wouldn’t be thinking so much about it.

I don’t know about you, but yoga helped me to quit smoking. Honest. I started it back three years ago, lying, twisting, stretching, and just getting too busy sweating to think about the cigarette. I never even looked back since. Go yoga!

The world is full of people who have tried and failed, and lots of others who have tried and made it. Smoking is by no means an easy habit to break, but you could be one of the winners if you kept trying. If you thought of it and acted as though your life depended on it, it will work.

I know of some games that have been known to help folks with their desires to quit smoking. Sudoku is one of them, chess and scrabbles are others. These things work by keeping you so busy that you wouldn’t even have the time to go out for a cigarette. By the time you are done playing, your mind is entirely on something else and the urge is out the window. You ought to try that out first before you give up on the idea.

I happen to be entirely certain that if your mind is distracted from the craving to smoke every time it comes, you can gradually get the cravings to lessen in intensity and to be further apart from each other. To this end, you can pick up a sport like Tae Bo or something. By the time you are done, I don’t know how you will be able to get up and light a smoke.

Think of smoking as more than just a bad habit; think of it as indiscipline and a total disrespect to yourself and to those around you. It often helps to know that no one else appreciates the practice, and soon you could be free from it. It is all in your mind.

Quitting smoking takes resolve; a though resolve like your life depends on it, which actually it does. In addition to being resolute you must also begin to take some kind of decisive action that will lead you away from the act. Soon enough you might find that the craving will pass on its own. You’d better believe it
